Networking Tips

Tip #1 - One tool that improves your networking success is a list of target employers (make sure the one you’re talking to is on that list). It helps your contact think of other good referrals.

Tip #2 - You must actively manage the networking interview or discussion. Make sure you know what you want to get out of that meeting and be clear with your contact how they can best help you.

Tip #3 - Treat networking meetings as if they were job interviews. People are still drawing conclusions about you so don’t be so informal that you forget to be professional.

Tip #4 - You’re never quite sure who will be helpful to you. So, don’t assume that only certain people are worthy networking contacts.
